District and School State Report Cards Show Positive Trend

District logoThe Department of Public Instruction has released the 2018-19 state report cards for school districts and individual schools. The Green Bay Area Public School District’s overall report card increased to 66.9; a 3.9 point increase from the 2017-18 report card. This is the highest accountability score the District has received since the state began issuing state report cards in 2012-13.

In addition, 23 District schools made significant improvements.

“The District’s 2018-19 state report card reaffirms that the District continues to be on a positive trajectory,” stated Superintendent of Schools and Learning Michelle Langenfeld. “We saw significant movement on our school report cards, including  21 schools either exceeding or significantly exceeding expectations- more than doubling the number of schools in these categories in the 2017-18 school year. I am grateful to the District’s administrators, teachers and support staff for their hard work to help all students succeed. In the last few years, the District and our community have worked in partnership, investing in innovative ways to engage and support all students. The District’s school report cards demonstrate that these efforts are working.”

“Improvements in math scores in grades 3 through 5 and 8 had a positive impact on the report card,” stated Director of Assessment Stephen Miller. “In addition, the District continues to see improvements in closing the achievement gap with our score in that area increasing from 66 to 68.5.”

Over the next few months, the District will review the data from the state report cards and use the information to guide our school success plans.
