Summer Reading Program owl & booksThe Brown County Library’s annual summer reading program for all ages is going virtual! The Summer Reading Challenge is powered by Beanstack, an online platform that makes it simple and convenient to track reading progress using a computer or mobile app.

The Summer Reading Challenge for kids, teens, and adults began on June 15 and ends on August 15, 2020. Visit to sign up at any time.

Readers in all three programs are encouraged to spend some time reading at least four days of week. Kids and teens will earn a new book for logging 20 days of reading and an entry in the grand prize drawing for logging 36 days. For the time they spend reading, adults will earn grand prize drawing entries to win one of nine local experience prize packs.

Reading for fun is key to frequent and successful reading practice and helps prevent “summer learning loss,” or “summer slide,” allowing kids and teens to maintain and/or improve their reading skills while they are out of school. Participating adults also have the opportunity to model interest in reading and to spend quality time with younger children talking about and reading books together.
