Webster Elementary Post Office

Webster students with lettersWebster Elementary has become a true community with cities, street addresses and its very own post office. Literacy Coach Todd Lowney and Building Para Amber Faubert began the post office as a way to improve students’ writing skills by encouraging students to write to one another in a meaningful way. Mr. Lowney brought the idea from a former school district where he had taught.

Mr. Lowney wrote a School Spirit Grant, Writing for our Future, through the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, which provided paper, letter sorting containers, pencils and pencil grips. Approximately 30-50 letters circulate the post office on both Mondays and Wednesdays, which is fully staffed with Webster students; from sorters, to stamp cancelers to carriers, to their own postal directory, they do it all!

Thanks to Green Bay Postmaster Roy Strobl, Jr. and Dennis Buehler and Kari Olsen from the Community Foundation for attending and supporting our special event.
