29 GBAPS students are 2023 GEAR UP Rising Phoenix, 13 graduate with associates degree
Twenty-nine Green Bay Area Public Schools students participated in the GEAR UP Rising Phoenix program this year, with 13 students graduating not only with high school diplomas, but with associate degrees.
GEAR UP Rising Phoenix is a collaboration between GEAR UP target school districts, UW-Green Bay and DPI WEOP, which provides students with a blend of dual enrollment, student success coaching and an opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts and Sciences degree while still in high school.
Students from East, John Dewey Academy of Learning, Preble, Southwest, and West high schools participated in the program this year. Students from East, John Dewey Academy of Learning, Preble and Southwest graduated with associate degrees.
This cohort of students earned an average college cumulative GPA of 2.93 and have earned 1,498 college credits.
